Program Description
CMU’s art program prepares you for a career in art or to pursue a graduate degree. The studio arts major is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and allows you to learn from nationally renowned instructors. CMU faculty members have exhibited their work around the world and help students like you develop artistic, analytical and interpretive abilities. Areas of study include ceramics, painting, drawing, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Students may design their Studio Program as they see fit; focusing on one area of study or combining several to earn their bachelor of fine arts degree.
Fully equipped studios are available for work in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and photography. The Steven L. Barstow Artist-in-Residence program features nationally acclaimed artists who teach, exhibit and conduct workshops on campus. You can gain professional development through involvement in student organizations such as the Ceramics Society, Printmaking Club and Photography Club.
