About Master of Arts - Education - Dual Language Development

The Master of Arts in Education with an option in Dual Language Development (DLD) provides advanced preparation in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, emphasizing theory, research, and classroom practices related to dual language development. Beginning in Fall 2020, the DLD master's degree will be offered as an online pilot program consisting of 2 pathways.

Pathway 1 is designed for teachers who completed a credential program or credential students who have nearly completed their credential program.  Pathway 1 students can transfer 4 credential courses (12 semester units), with approval, towards the DLD MA degree with only 6 courses remaining (18 units) for obtaining the DLD MA.

Pathway 2 is designed for non-credential individuals who wish to improve their knowledge about culturally and linguistically diverse student populations at an advanced preparation level for seeking employment in the private, public, or non-profit sectors. Pathway 2 students complete 8 required courses and 2 electives determined through advisement.
