Program Description
Video games are an increasingly important part of contemporary life and popular culture. The new GAME program prepares students to lead and collaborate in the creation of games – from the design of dynamic experiences, to the creation of compelling game art, to the management of the production process, and to the formulation of the mechanics that makes a game work.
GAME is offered concurrently at Brock and Niagara College. The program provides opportunities to explore the game space from every angle. Students will look at the creative and cultural context of games, the history of games, game platforms and design, and production paradigms. They will also examine core issues that surround games such as play, agency, narrative, dynamics and immersion.
Intensive production courses are offered in Years 2,3, and 4 of the program. In these courses students will work on collaborative teams to create advanced game components and prototypes, and ultimately produce fully realized games.
