This course is delivered by the AACSB-accredited Business School, an accreditation attained by fewer than 5% of business schools worldwide. It recognizes focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching and student learning.
Bournemouth University's Accounting & Finance degree will give students an excellent working knowledge of these twin disciplines as well as a crucial grounding in business studies – providing graduates with the financial expertise, analytical skills, and strategic insight needed to pursue a career in the financial sector.
Top-performing students on this course will have the opportunity to obtain the ICAEW’s Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business in their final year. Bournemouth University is one of only a few UK universities able to offer this.
One of the key features of this degree is its flexibility; all of Bournemouth's accounting and finance courses share the same first year, giving students the flexibility to transfer to another pathway at the end of the first year. Students will also have the option to study abroad at one of Bournemouth's international partner institutions during the second semester of the second year. Currently they have partners in Australia, Canada and Europe.
If students opt to include the 30-week placement as part of their course, they will gain invaluable workplace experience and can see how everything they've learned translates into the real world. Students will also be creating a useful network of professional contacts at the same time.
What’s more, this course is accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the Charted Institute of Management Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. If that wasn’t enough, because Bournemouth's accounting and finance degrees offer exemptions for accountancy qualifications, graduates may not have to take all the exams required to become a Chartered Accountant.
