Great teachers never stop learning themselves. That’s an important philosophy at the heart of Wilkes University's elementary and early childhood education program, where students study how to communicate and engage with young students, to help nurture 21st century learners from all backgrounds. From YouTube to interactive whiteboards, students will learn how to incorporate technology into their teaching, and begin observing in actual classrooms as early as freshman year.
The mission of the Elementary and Early Childhood Program is to prepare highly effective teachers who have the knowledge, skills, and competencies to prepare Pre-K-4 students to achieve academic success, and who are prepared to serve a diverse group of children and families in a variety of educational settings. Education majors take methods of teaching courses in mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, physical education and health, reading, and language arts, as well as courses in educational theory and practice.
