About Professional Pilot Transfer Program Custom Bundle

This program is designed for international students with previous flight training or looking to convert their existing license to a Canadian license.  This program will be customized based on each individual's previous flight experience. The program descriptions include the number of hours required for licensing. Students' experience will be assessed by Vancouver Aviation College and a program plan will be created according to the students' needs. 

The program will be customized to allow student's to be eligible for a post graduation work permit.

Programs that may be included in the customized plan are: 

Private Pilot License (PPL)

Minimum Requirements: Ground School - 60 Hours, Dual Flight Training - 33 hours, Solo Flight -12 hours, Ground Briefing - 15 hours

This program is the first step in an aviation career. Fly any Canadian Registered airplane anywhere in the world. No limit to the number of passengers. The full course is designed for over 24 weeks. Private Pilots are allowed to share the freedom of flight with family and friends. Private Pilot License provides eligibility to start the Commercial Pilot License Program.

Includes Night Rating and Mountain Check.

Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

Minimum Requirements: Ground School - 100 Hours, Dual Flight Training  - 35 hours, Solo Flight Training - 30 hours, Ground Briefing - 15 hours.

Note: Students are required to complete 200 hours of flight time for this program.

The full program is 52 weeks and prepares students to be a Commercial Pilot.  The Commercial License will allow the pilot to fly airplanes for hire and reward. It opens the avenue to what can be an exciting and lucrative aviation career.

A Commercial Pilot License gives students the opportunity to work in many positions including:

  • VFR or IFR Charter Air Taxi
  • Photo Survey Pilot
  • Medical Evacuation
  • Parachute Dropping
  • Airborne Traffic Watch or Banner Towing
  • Forest Fire Detection or Suppression
Single Engine Instrument Rating 

Minimum Requirements: Ground School - 20 hours, Dual Flight Training - 20 hours, Simulator Training - 20 hours, Ground Briefing - 7 hours

The full course is designed to be a 12-week program to prepare students to be an Instrument Rated pilot.

The instrument rating allows pilot's to:

  • Fly during Instrument conditions
  • Fly above 18,000 foot altitude
  • Utilize the maximum capacity of aircraft
This qualification is required to work in an airline as a pilot.

Flight Instructor 

Minimum Requirements: Ground School - 25 hours, Dual Training - 30 hours, Ground Briefing - 30 hours

This course is designed to be completed over 4 to 5 months. Completion of the (entry level) Class 4 Instructor Rating, students will be allowed to conduct flight training for the Private Pilot License (PPL); Night Rating; Recreational Pilot Permit (RPP); and the Commercial Pilot License (CPL).

Becoming a Flight Instructor is an excellent way to gain experience in the aviation industry.

Important Notes About Costs

Total Flight Training Cost: Total Flight training cost is variable, and depends upon student performance. Tuition estimates are based on Transport Canada's minimum requirements. Any additional training required to meet Transport Canada Standards will be billed at the applicable rate. 

Fuel Surcharge: Due to the current fuel prices a fuel surcharge may be applied, students should be prepared for this extra expense. This expense applies to the in-airplane portion of the training.
