Bachelor of Science - Art Education

The Bachelor of Science in Art Education is a professional degree that prepares students to teach art in elementary and secondary school settings. In studio art courses, students study with nationally-renowned faculty gain an understanding of visual art concepts and art history, along with technical skills necessary to teach a range of artistic media. In professional education courses, students study curriculum, methods, and assessment of the visual arts as a language through which children and adolescents can learn about and engage in real-world/real-life problems and ideas. In clinical experiences, art education students work directly with children and adolescents in school and community settings every semester of the program. Becoming an art teacher means using one’s creative capabilities to help others explore and discover new ways of seeing and thinking about the changing world in which they live.
