Program Description

In this English program at UW-Superior students study literature, strengthen their writing abilities, and expand their language skills.

Learn how to think, read, write and speak with clarity and depth in a supportive and intellectually-engaging atmosphere through courses such as:

  • Multi-ethnic American literature
  • Hemingway's artistry
  • Modern American poetry
  • History of the English language
  • The rise of the novel
Through the study of nonfiction and fiction literature, poetry, novels, and short stories, students will grasp an understanding of Chaucer, Shakespeare, Plath, Huxley and others as they evaluate, critique, and discuss.

*Secondary education majors may major or minor in English education through the teacher education program.
