Program Description
The Psychology and Creative Writing combined degree is offered jointly by the Department of Psychology and the Department of English Language and Literature. This joint program gives students the opportunity to learn about topics in both areas.
Psychology courses cover such topics as: memory, motivation, and decision making; how the attitudes and actions of other people influence; the origins and treatment of mental illness; human development from birth to death; and the way cultural backgrounds shape the way humans think and behave. Large and small lectures, seminars, and discussion groups offer opportunities for active learning, and for participation in field settings.
In its combination of academic and hands-on creative writing courses, this Creative Writing degree program is one of only a few of its kind in Canada. It provides individual attention through both full-year workshops and topics courses, as well as from professionals in a supportive small-group environment.
