Bachelor of Science - Conservation and Biodiversity

In the Bachelor of Science - Biology major at University of South Dakota, students will develop research and critical thinking skills as they will learn about a range of important topics in science, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, stem-cell research, advances in medicine and genetically modified organisms.

Students will tailor the program to fit their unique interests in biology by selecting a specialization – conservation and biodiversity; physiology, cell and molecular biology; or human dynamics – that will make their University of South Dakota degree the ideal launching point for their career. They can look forward to gaining real-world research experience with faculty in their labs or in the field.

This rich background in science will position graduate students for success as they will apply to medical or other professional health schools or prepare for careers in conservation, ecology, biotechnology, genomics and neurobiology.

Students can gain a well-rounded biology degree with a specialization in conservation and biodiversity. They will take courses like Principles of Ecology, Evolution, Conservation Biology, Field Ecology and Plants and Civilization to prepare them for a variety of careers or to pursue a graduate degree.
