About Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Human Resource Management (with Foundation Year)
As a human resources specialist, students will learn how businesses can get the most out of their employees and develop the skills for successful people management.
This course is offered as a degree with foundation year - a four-year programme which provides an additional foundation year at the beginning of the degree, that will give students academic and practical experience, as well as the skills they need to ensure they are equipped to successfully complete their chosen degree.
During the foundation year, students will take modules in English and Maths which will develop their core academic and study skills. The syllabus includes a year-long module relevant to their chosen degree subject, such as Business Essentials. This will provide students with a subject specific knowledge in Business, which is essential for success in their degree
The Human Resource Management (HRM) degree course will give students an excellent basis for a career in HR in a range of organisations. As a human resources specialist, students will learn how businesses can get the most out of their employees and develop the skills for successful people management.
Students will learn about key concepts such as managing people, operations, marketing and finance; and learn what businesses need to do to operate effectively and ethically in a culturally diverse environment.
In readiness for their future career, students will acquire key attributes employers value, such as commercial acumen, self-reflection and emotional intelligence, and gain skills in research and project management.
Students will finish the course confident in their personal values, with the knowledge and experience to solve business problems ethically and an ongoing passion for personal and professional development.
This degree includes an option for a semester-long work placement during year two, to give students first-hand experience to develop their career and apply what they have learned.
The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), so as a graduate, students will gain CIPD Associate Membership.
