Pre-Social Work is a 30 credit hour, 1-year program designed to prepare students to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Social Work Program. Therefore, students wishing to pursue the Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina should first enroll in Pre-Social Work.
After completing Pre-Social Work, upon gaining admission to the Bachelor of Social Work, students will have already completed 30 credit hours toward the 120 credit hour degree; therefore, they would have just 90 credit hours remaining in the Bachelor of Social Work.
It is an option for Pre-Social Work students to complete more than the minimum 30 credit hours noted above, since Pre-Social Work students can take up to 63 credit hours (approximately 2 years of study) toward the Bachelor of Social Work course requirements.
This is possible because Pre-Social Work students are permitted to complete the entire 57 credit hour General University Studies section of the Bachelor of Social Work, as well as two social work courses: SW 100 and SW 202. A student who completes 63 credit hours toward the Bachelor of Social Work while in Pre-Social Work would have only 57 credit hours remaining when admitted to the Bachelor of Social Work.
