4-Term Pathway - Undergraduate Foundation Program - Humanities and Social Sciences - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Museum Studies and Archaeology (with Professional Placement)

At ONCAMPUS Reading, students are provided with the opportunity to prepare for degree study and are assured progression to a variety of undergraduate degrees at the University of Reading. This program is specially tailored for international students who have finished their senior secondary education, with the goal of assisting them in gaining entry into undergraduate studies at the University of Reading. Upon successful completion of the University Foundation Program with the required level of achievement in all academic areas and the necessary English language score, students will automatically move on to an undergraduate program at the University of Reading. The University Foundation Program is set at NQF level 3, which is equivalent to A level standard in the United Kingdom.

Most programs last for one academic year, divided into three terms consisting of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, students will participate in 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.

They can choose the University of Reading, which is ranked in the top 100 in the world for Archaeology (QS World Rankings by Subject 2023) and ranked 1st in the United Kingdom for environmental and ethical performance (People and Planet University League 2023/24). In 2023, the University of Reading was the first-ever winner of the Times Higher Education (THE) award for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership. It is also ranked 1st in the UK for research quality and research outputs in Archaeology (Times Higher Education Institutions Ranked by Subject, based on its analysis of REF 2021). Furthermore, 100% of the research in History is of international standing (Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), combining 4*, 3*, and 2* submissions – History). The University ranks in the top 3 in the United Kingdom for teaching quality in Archaeology (The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024), and 97% of students reported that teaching staff are good at explaining things (National Student Survey 2024, 97.06% of responders from the Department of Archaeology). Overall, 97% of graduates from Archaeology are in work or further study within 15 months of graduation (based on analysis of HESA data © HESA 2023, Graduate Outcomes Survey 2020/21; includes all Archaeology responders).

Their three on-site museums – including the Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology – enable students to gain practical, hands-on experience. At Reading, they will combine the study of museology with the excitement of archaeological discovery. They will learn the core skills of curatorship: researching, analyzing, cataloguing, interpreting, and displaying museum objects, historic buildings, and landscapes.
