At ONCAMPUS Reading, students are provided with the opportunity to prepare for degree study and are assured progression to a variety of undergraduate degrees at the University of Reading. This program is specially tailored for international students who have completed their senior secondary education, with the aim of helping them gain entry into undergraduate studies at the University of Reading. The University Foundation Program is set at NQF level 3, which is equivalent to A level standard in the United Kingdom.
Most programs last for one academic year, divided into three terms consisting of seven to eight teaching weeks and one examination week. On average, students will participate in 21 (and up to 25) hours of classroom-based study per week.
The BSc Geography and Economics (Regional Science) degree is an interdisciplinary, three-year program led by experts from the Department of Geography and Environmental Science and the Department of Economics. It explores issues that are prevalent in the news and shape the world we live in.
Students will tackle challenges at various scales - local, regional, national, and global - addressing topics such as the spatial implications of economic processes and the economic impact of social processes.
Throughout the program, students will critically analyze topics including resource allocation and utilization, the consequences for social and economic wellbeing, consumerism and sustainability, work, employment, and development issues, urban regeneration, and the application of micro-economics and macro-economics to globalization.
