About Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Accounting and Finance (with Placement Experience) (NN34)

The BSc Accounting and Finance degree is designed to prepare students for a career in accountancy firms, financial institutions or large multinational enterprises. In this degree students will obtain a critical grasp of core accounting and finance theory as well as sound technical knowledge. They will also gain a thorough understanding of the role of accounting and finance in business and society.

A range of core modules will develop understanding of the operation of the financial system and capital markets, and students will have the opportunity to apply the theory learned in a state-of-art dealing room, using computer trading simulations and spreadsheet modelling. Having acquired a sound understanding of core financial, accounting and business concepts in first year, students go on to take more advanced modules specializing in their key areas of interest in the second and final years.

The final year of the programme enables students to choose optional modules, tailoring their degree towards their own interests and aims. Students will graduate with professional and technical skills that will be immediately transferable to the business environment.

If students would like to complete a one-year work placement in industry between their second and final year, students should consider studying BSc Accounting and Finance with Placement Experience. A successful industry placement can also lead to a job offer with their placement company upon graduation. Students will also have lots of opportunities to develop excellent professional contacts.
