Big data is playing an increasingly important role in society. The demand for expert and ethically-informed data analysis is high in various industries. This course provides professional and problem-solving skills for a variety of high-level careers.
The interdisciplinary masters program will be taught by the Schools of Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences. The academics conduct their own international-quality research and use it to teach the latest techniques and technologies in the field.
Students will develop knowledge in key topics such as statistical modeling, machine learning, and advanced algorithms. Flexible optional modules are offered for students to study topics of interest.
An individual research project in a chosen area will be undertaken. This can be with industry partners or expert research groups. Past projects have included the development of a location-based service for education, UK precipitation forecasting, and the effect of virtual audiences on music performance anxiety.
