Master of Arts - Elementary Education - Alternative Route to K-8 Licensure

The Master of Arts in Elementary Education with Alternative Route to K–8 Licensure program strives to prepare the very best entry-level teachers for all of New Mexico’s children; such preparation is enriched by the diverse, contrastive linguistic and cultural communities of the region.

The M.A. in Elementary Education with Alternative Route to K–8 Licensure is for an individual interested in obtaining a K–8 elementary teaching license and completing a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. A student in this program is one who has a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral Degree and who is interested in obtaining a K–8 Elementary teaching license. This is a two-stage program leading to Licensure and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. Students complete licensure courses, advanced field experiences through student teaching, and then begin Master’s Degree courses.
