Program Description
With a combined Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Management (B.Sc./B.Mgt.) degree, the student can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, if the student is interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. If sports marketing ignites their passion, they can major in kinesiology and marketing.
The Combined B.Sc./B.Mgt. degree program takes five years (50 courses) to complete and leads to the conferral of two degrees.
Bachelor of Management - International Management
Business is now recognized as a global practice, even if products and services never leave a local market. Global events and competition affect almost all companies and industry sectors. Therefore, it is important to understand the global environment as companies operate in more complex and diverse environment where international factors come into play.
International management is the practice of managing business, not-for-profit, governmental, or other entity's operations across countries. International management professionals are familiar with the culture, business practices, economic and political environment of countries in which multinational firms and/or other organizations operate. They have the skills needed to formulate effective management strategies in today’s globally complex and competitive environment.
International management major students focus on two major themes in their studies: Global Strategy and Cultural Context. In the Global Strategy stream, students will be exposed to topics such as supply chain management, global finance, innovation in emerging markets and industrial location of multinational activities. In the Cultural Context stream, students will be exposed to topics such as cross-cultural management and marketing, global leadership, and regional aspect of international management and business.
Students also draw from fields such as history, English, political science, psychology, economics and sociology. This will allow students to enhance the skills needed to meet the challenges of doing business in an organization that faces different international pressures or that operates across countries.
Bachelor of Science - Psychology
Psychology delves into what makes people tick. Psychologists study the relationship between mind and behaviour by investigating the nature of thought processes and behaviours in humans and other animals.
Psychologists also study the evolutionary, social and cultural factors affecting the development of human thoughts and behaviours, focusing on topics that have a direct bearing on people's day-to-day experience.
Psychology students develop skills in analyzing and interpreting complex material, particularly as it relates to behaviour. Students will learn theories of how people interpret the world and act in it, as well as theories of human behaviour.
Psychology students will learn from those at the forefront of psychological research. The faculty members are regularly published in the top journals and make an ongoing contribution to an ever-advancing field.
Students will inevitably become savvy and critical consumers of evidence-based information related to people’s behaviour such as self-help, psychological and medical advice.
