About Double Degree - Bachelor of Arts - History & Bachelor of Business Administration - General Management (Optional Co-op)
With a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Management (B.A./B.Mgt.) or a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Management (B.Sc./B.Mgt.) degree, students can explore a multitude of interests and careers. For example, for candidates who are interested in managing an art gallery, they can major in art and general management. For those who are interested in sports marketing, they can major in kinesiology and marketing.
The Combined B.A./B.Mgt. degree program takes five years (50 courses) to complete and leads to the conferral of two degrees.
History as an academic discipline examines the past to explain how society got to where it is today. The world is politically, economically, and socially complex; to engage it effectively and better understand society, students must first understand the many historical factors that shaped society. Historians work to sharpen the collective memory of society.
History students will learn about great leaders of the past and what ordinary people believed and valued — how they lived, worshiped, worked, fought and died. They will have the opportunity to take thematic and regional courses in ancient, medieval and modern history from the geographic areas that shaped the world today.
The University of Lethbridge is confident that their courses, as well as their diverse areas of expertise, will offer something of interest to everyone studying history at the university.
Management is leading others to accomplish common goals in business. Today’s managers are people oriented, creative, adaptable and strong communicators. They have to know how to deal effectively with rapidly changing environments, work successfully with small and large teams, live and work by principles of ethics and social responsibility and be aware of responsibilities to sustainability.
General management students study topics such as marketing, organizational behavior, introductory accounting, managing responsibly in a global environment, human resources management, policy and strategy and probability and statistics. They will draw from fields such as history, English, political science, economics and sociology.
