About Bachelor of Arts - Digital Media

ULV’s Digital Media Program prepares students for the ever-changing world of media and gives students real-world training to thrive in a competitive environment. Students choose between either Film and Television or Radio Broadcast and Digital Audio Production concentrations.

Radio Broadcast and Digital Audio Production

The Radio and Digital Audio Production program educates and trains students for careers in radio, audio production, podcasting, entertainment, music streaming services, and voice over. Students work in La Verne's studios and on the radio station to develop their on-air, production, and content creation, skills. They intern at the largest and best Southern California radio stations and production companies. La Verne has alumni who are working with, and for, the most innovative programmers and stations in the country, including, iHeart Radio, Entercom, Merulo Media, and more. These stations include, KOST, K-EARTH, The WAVE, AMP Radio, Power 106, KDAY, KNX, Fox Sports, AM 830, K-FROG, Hot 103.9, and more.

The campus station, LeoFM is run by the Communications Department providing music and sports play-by-play to the student body throughout the residence halls on 107.9 Mhz and streaming online. The station and the student on-air personalities have received recognition and awards from Broadcast Education Association, Society for Professional Journalists, and the College Broadcasters, Inc.

Film and Television Concentration

La Verne’s Film and Television program is an intensive learning environment that trains students to work in both the film and television industries.  Students will learn the arts of narrative filmmaking, documentary filmmaking, 3-camera shoots and live sports and events broadcasting.  Courses of study include, Screenwriting, Editing, Directing, Cinematography and sound design. LVTV, La Verne Community Television, and KWST, San Dimas Community Television, are operated by the Communications Department and offer film and television students opportunities to produce a wide variety of programming including sporting events, political forums and city news shows. The stations have consistently won national awards from the Society for Professional Journalists, the Alliance for Community Media and the Broadcast Education Association.
