Standard International Pathway Program (IPP) - 2-Semester Pathway + Bachelor of Music - Instrumental Studies - Piano

Program Description

The Piano Performance program at The Hartt School is a well-rounded, comprehensive course of study designed to prepare students for many possible career opportunities.  Along with the traditional music offerings and intense private lessons, this program includes a strong piano pedagogy component as well as experience in accompanying.  In the pedagogy segment, students are exposed to many diverse facets of teaching, including music theory, teaching beginning and intermediate students, observing lessons and classes, and apprentice teaching in Hartt’s nationally-known Community Division.  For the accompanying sequence, students are presented with basic accompanying skills, duo piano music, and vocal and instrumental repertoire. 

International Pathway Program

Students should be advised that this is the Standard 2-Semester Pathway option for this program.

The International Pathway Program (IPP) is open to students who need to strengthen their English skills before studying a degree program in the USA. The IPP offers undergraduate students the additional support needed for their first year of university study. Students’ academic, social and personal success are ensured while in the program as they prepare to continue on to their degree.

Each semester students will take a combination of Hartford academic courses (credited) and English courses (non-credit). Course options are dependent upon the required pathway. Once students have reached the required English level, they can progress to their program at the University of Hartford.
