About Integrated Admission Pathway (IAP)

The Integrated Admission Pathway allows students to start taking university degree-credit courses immediately. The combination of English language courses and selected degree-credit courses provides a simultaneous learning experience within a supported environment. Take advantage of a unique opportunity to apply new English language skills to academic studies right away. Complete five courses (5 x 0.5 credits) towards a degree in just three semesters. Begin a full-time degree program in the fourth semester.

Experienced English language instructors and faculty members will guide student learning so they can enjoy a smooth transition to a degree program. Additionally, conversation tutors, English language buddies, and supported learning groups are available to support student academic success. Students may choose to live on campus in a supported living and learning environment and take advantage of an opportunity to build a network of Canadian friends and develop real English skills.

Note: Students must meet all undergraduate admission requirements except for the English Language proficiency requirement.

This new pathway provides a flexible option for guaranteed admission to the following degree programs at the University of Guelph:
  • Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Science)
  • Bachelor of Commerce
  • Bachelor of Arts (Economics)
This is a very supportive program. The academic courses are specifically for pathway students.  The first semester includes 'sheltered' courses, with additional support for IAP students with the intention of assisting with the transition into the Canadian education style. The professor and ELP instructors work together to make sure academic courses are taught at an appropriate language level. The second semester consists of two academic courses (non-sheltered), while the third semester includes two online academic courses.
