The discipline of Mechatronics Engineering intersects the fields of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering, as well as artificial intelligence. Mechatronics engineers are skilled in combining these disciplines to design hardware and software for automation, autonomous systems, and smart, computer-controlled devices.
As a graduate of Mechatronics Engineering, student will work on designing and building advanced robotic systems, integrating mechanical components with electronics and software, and developing smart technologies that enhance machine efficiency and responsiveness.
Graduates of our Mechatronics Engineering program will become experts in integrating mechanical and electronic/computer systems. Students will design, develop, and deploy robotics, automation systems, and the software that powers them.
Students in our Mechatronics Engineering program will have the option to specialize in one of these areas of study: Robotics-Control-AI or Manufacturing-Automation.
A distinct feature of our Mechatronics program is a strong Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) component which is integrated in the curriculum.
As a co-op student, student will gain relevant work experience, build professional networks, and develop essential interpersonal skills needed to succeed in the workplace, all while getting paid and earning your university degree. Guelph’s co-op program is unique due to the exceptional level of support provided throughout the co-op experience. Students will complete a comprehensive course preparing them for the co-op employment process, and will receive guidance from a knowledgeable team of staff dedicated to their development and success.
