The growth in transnational and transcontinental connectedness has emphasized the need for a multi-disciplinary and comparative approach to culture, society, history, politics, and trade, and has created a demand for graduates with language and management knowledge and overseas experience, particularly in Europe.
European Studies is designed for students who seek a career in international relations - especially in international business and administration. Students can become fluent in French, German, Italian or Spanish, and take courses in European history, political science, art, literature and economics. They can study at a European university to meet the global demand for graduates with intercultural skills, and global understanding. The European Studies major will prepare them for a career in international relations between Canada and Europe. The program offers two areas of emphasis to choose from: European Business; European Culture and Civilization.
