The Computer Engineering, MEng course includes three years’ study at Bachelor’s level plus a further Master’s year. It’ll give learners the knowledge and skills to pursue roles in ICT and computer engineering.
Students will learn about theoretical programming and gain practical experience in developing and using applications for computing platforms and hardware. They'll have the opportunity to develop applications for robots, embedded and real-time systems, and other innovative information and communications technology.
The final year includes a Master's-level engineering project that will develop students' teamwork and leadership skills. They'll graduate with the knowledge and skills required for professional roles in computing, engineering and related specialist fields. Graduates could also pursue postgraduate study.
Students will be taught by an experienced team whose expertise and knowledge closely reflects the modules of this course. The team includes senior academics, professional practitioners with industry experience, lab technicians, and external experts who provide guest lectures on some modules. The PhD researchers also offer lab support, which undergraduate students find very useful.
Learners go to a range of companies and organizations of varying sizes for their placements, including large multi-national firms, government agencies, the NHS and small to medium sized companies engaged in research, analytical services and manufacturing. Previous students have worked in Eon, Dyson, ADEY, PS Analytical and E-liquids, GSK, NHS hospitals. Some have also taken IAESTE (British Council) placements to Brazil, Dubai and Poland.
