This unique MSc Strength and Conditioning integrates the essential aspects of injury prevention with sports nutrition and physical preparation. It emphasizes the area of exercise for health, preparing students to work within the health system.
Students are taught by specialist staff in the Centre for Sports Science and Medicine in Sport and Exercise, with support from internationally recognised visiting professionals. They'll gain subject-specific knowledge, enhanced practical and professional skills, and a critical awareness of advances at the forefront of strength and conditioning studies.
The University of Greenwich is accredited by some of the most respected organizations in the field. In particular, the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recognizes this Master's as a high-quality programme for the NSCA Education Recognition Programme.
Learners will also be able to join the Sports Science Research group, apply for an internship in professional sports centres or the NHS working as a physiologist in a health team. They may be able to undertake internships at Medway Hospital, working with the Prehabilitation Unit. This will provide students with a Certificate in Professional Practice and valuable employment experience before they graduate.
Students can pursue opportunities in the sports performance and coaching field, or gain positions such as head strength coach, assistant strength coach, strength coach and sports nutrition advisor. They can also gain roles in the health and fitness industry (advanced programmes and services), performance diagnostics-oriented companies, institutions and laboratories, manufacturers of devices, equipment for training and testing.
