About Bachelor of Science (with Honours) - Physics with a Year in Industry

Program Description

Physics is concerned with the most fundamental questions about nature. It’s an inspiring subject that enables students to cultivate their abstract, creative reasoning and their practical, applied knowledge.

During the first two years of this four-year degree, students will explore some major themes in physics. They will also have the opportunity to secure a placement in a commercial or academic situation.

The third year will be spent working at this placement. This will enable students to develop additional skills and networks that will be of immense benefit after graduation. In the final year, in addition to continuing to study the major themes of physics, students will do a project where they have the chance to research a specific topic of their choice.

Throughout the course students will develop an impressive range of transferable skills in mathematics, communication and collaborative work. They will also build practical professional skills in areas like academic research, analytical problem solving and computing. These are highly sought-after skills for which employers in several sectors specifically prefer physics graduates.

Physics is not only a fascinating discipline, but a highly regarded qualification too. Studying at UEA will help to develop a deep curiosity about the workings of our universe and gain powerful scientific skills to employ in a huge range of areas, so students leave as highly employable graduates.
