About Bachelor of Law (with Honours) - Law with American Law

Program Description

The LLB (Hons) in Law with American Law offers an exciting opportunity to combine a qualifying law degree with a broader educational and cultural experience through a year studying at an American law faculty.
This is a four year program with a year abroad in the third year.

Students will will start their degree by establishing the building blocks of legal knowledge. At the same time, they will begin to cultivate important skills, such as reasoning, research and writing, formulating convincing arguments, negotiating and working as part of a team.

The point of legal study is not simply to memorise the law, but to be able to engage with it skillfully. As such, many of the skills students will develop are transferrable and will be valuable to within or beyond a career in law.

In the second and fourth years students will tailor their degree by choosing modules that suit their interests. UEA's semesterised modular system means that core modules are a semester long, not year long, allowing students to study more broadly.

Students will spend their third year studying abroad at one of UEA's partner law schools in the United States. The year abroad is a compulsory element of this four-year degree.

Throughout this degree, students will gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed within or beyond the legal profession. UEA's career events with law firms, barrister chambers, and alumni offer fantastic networking opportunities and insights into post-graduation options. Students can also contribute to the local community by volunteering with the award-winning UEA Law Clinic.
