Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - Modern Languages with Management Studies

On this BA (Hons) Modern Languages with Management Studies course, students will learn their chosen languages to degree level while exploring the theory and practice of business management, and the role of language and translation in today’s global communication networks.  

Language learning will involve reading and listening comprehension, translation from and to English, précis and paraphrase work, the study of different styles and registers, lexical exercises, and oral work. In all of these activities, students will use contemporary rather than literary or historical materials. They'll put theory into practice on their year abroad as they push their language and communication skills to the next level, before choosing from advanced language modules in their final year. 

UEA has exchange links with many universities in France and Spain, as well as links with universities in Japan, Canada and Latin America. Students also have opportunities to take up a teaching assistantship or suitable work placement.

Students may have the opportunity to take a third language as a non-credit module with certification. Depending on availability they can choose from Arabic, British Sign Language, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Spanish, Russian and Advanced English. 

Alongside developing their language competence, learners develop their business acumen by undertaking modules that'll give them a solid foundation in business management. Later in their degree, students will have the chance to specialize in marketing, business ethics, or intercultural communication. They'll master project management, teamwork and interpersonal skills, and leadership skills, all preparing them to engage in today's globalized world. 

The BA (Hons) Modern Languages with Management Studies graduates will be prepared for a whole host of career sectors, both in the UK and abroad. These include tourism, hospitality and leisure, human resources, marketing, sales, business, international banking, media, the civil service, local government and administration, teaching and education, translation and interpretation, international trade and business, journalism, arts administration, customer services, and personal services such as childcare.
