Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - Film and Television Studies with a Placement Year

UEA is a pioneer in film and television studies, with respected academics known for their research and teaching. We cover British, American, and global cinemas, focusing on popular genres and feminist media interpretations. Our BA Film and Television Studies with a Placement Year degree explores film and television history, social and political contexts, and industry development. Student will encounter global phenomena like Doctor Who and Marvel adaptations, while enhancing the critical skills. Opportunities for media practice allow them to gain insights into the creative process by producing their own work.

Student will develop transferable skills in research, communication, teamwork, leadership, and self-management on this degree course. These skills will open doors to various careers, whether as a writer, producer, director, or in marketing, advertising, and the charity sector. Graduates have succeeded as film executives, producers, media managers, and creative directors, among other roles in film heritage.

In BA Film and Television Studies with a Placement Year, they will complete a Placement in Year 3, gaining real-world experience that connects your academic skills with employment and enhances their career.

On this course, they will normally spend 9-12 months of their third year* in a placement, gaining invaluable work experience and employability skills in a relevant area of your choice. student will be expected to seek their own work placement and will be supported in doing so by UEA’s Career Central Service and the School. Support for them to find their placement will start early in the first year and will be tailored to the particular needs they will have at various stages of the process.
