About Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) - American History
Program Description
UEA is home to one of the most established and highly regarded departments in the UK. American history has been taught there for over half of a century. Students will learn with experts doing world-leading research on U.S. history and politics. They can also shape their degree to respond to their interests, from foreign affairs to politics to race to gender.
In the third year, students will get to experience the U.S. first-hand. They spend the entire year learning at an American university. They can also add a comparative dimension by studying in Canada. Or students could split the year with one semester in the U.S. and the other in Australia, New Zealand, or Hong Kong.
UEA's American History degree provides tools to link the present with the past and the future. UEA is home to the Arthur Miller Institute, a hub for events and speakers throughout the year. The school hosts Congress to Campus visits, where students can converse with US politicians. UEA also has partnerships with the American Library based in the Millennium Library.
At UEA, an American History course allows students to grapple with key global questions today. It prepares them for a range of career options. Graduates have moved into research, teaching, journalism, and the Civil Service. NGOs, PR, marketing, law, and finance are among other destinations.
