This program consists of a pathway program offered by INTO at the University of East Anglia followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of East Anglia. In an international foundation year students will study courses related to their intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into their intended program depends upon successful completion of the pathway program.
Prepare for direct entry to a range of postgraduate degrees, including Business Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Economics, International Business Economics, International Development, International Relations and Education, at UEA.
This course combines a strong interdisciplinary foundation with a specialist economics lens in the study of global development. Students will take core modules that seek to understand critical contemporary issues from an economics perspective – including poverty, exclusion, deprivation, foreign aid, the environment, trade and globalization – focusing specifically on how economic and social inequalities arise, and exploring the policies and processes that can reduce them. They will develop practical skills in economic methods and statistics, learning basic data analysis techniques and exploring specialist statistical software, in order to think systematically about important macroeconomics and microeconomics questions.
Global Development focuses on addressing contemporary challenges in developing and transitioning economies via disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches. Students will consistently benefit from excellent research-led teaching, ensuring they will encounter the latest thinking in the field.
Within the program , Students will be supported in developing complementary specialist areas of interest and have the flexibility to choose modules from a range of disciplines, including economics, agricultural policy, media, environmental justice, climate change, gender, and education.
