Master of Science - Museums & Heritage Practice

About Master of Science - Museums & Heritage Practice
Program Description
Museums allow us to encounter and investigate societies through physical objects and cultural connections. Learn how objects are looked after, discover how people lived, and trace the causes and effects of social, political, cultural and economic trends and transformations using Museum collections.
In studying Museums & Heritage Practice, students will have access to a range of resources, including museum and historic house collections across Shrewsbury, Shropshire and the Welsh Marches. Links with heritage organisations and collections include independent, specialist and civic museums, English Heritage and the National Trust. The course is designed to develop knowledge and skills suited to operate within the broader heritage industry and institutional contexts, whether they be museums, heritage and planning agencies, local authorities, international organisations, private enterprises or civic organisations.
This course blends theory and practice, specialist lecturers, contributions from practising museums and heritage professionals, opportunities for field research to gain ‘hands-on’ experience, and research projects with real-life outputs.
