About Master of Science - Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics with Professional Project
This MSc programme provides an opportunity for students to engage with advanced concepts in mechanical engineering and mechatronics, encompassing critical areas such as energy systems, rigid and deformable body mechanics (including Finite Element Analysis), manufacturing, and design. The curriculum also offers focused exposure to mechatronics, culminating in a group design project that addresses industry-scale challenges, such as the development of autonomous vehicles.
Teaching and practical work are delivered at the University’s state-of-the-art Design & Manufacturing suite located at the Exton campus. This facility enables students to gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and processes, including advanced manufacturing technologies, material testing, and microscopy.
The programme promotes an ethos of socially responsible engineering, nurturing a global outlook and preparing graduates to address complex challenges in an AI-driven world.
A dedicated academic and professional support team creates a welcoming and enriching learning environment, ensuring that students are well-supported both academically and personally throughout their studies.
The Professional Project MSc offers students a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience, enhance employability, and address real-world global business challenges through the applied use of academic knowledge. The programme is designed to support the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and reflective practice, enabling students to recognise and articulate the skills and insights gained throughout their experience.
During the first year, students receive support from the University in identifying and securing a suitable client-led project, while simultaneously developing subject-specific knowledge through the taught modules of the programme. In the second year, students undertake the professional project, collaborating with industry professionals and expanding their professional networks.
While students are responsible for securing their own project, the University provides guidance and support throughout the process. A dedicated preparation module is also included to equip students with the professional and interpersonal skills required to succeed in the workplace.
