About Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Business Management and French (N2R1)
The BA Business Management and French combined honours degree at the University of Chester offers a distinctive blend of contemporary business studies and core French language modules, providing students with an ideal foundation for a successful career both in the UK and abroad.
Whether students begin with an A Level in French or as beginners, in the first year they will explore essential concepts and functions of the modern business world while simultaneously developing their French language skills and examining French-speaking societies and cultures from around the globe.
Building on a robust foundation in business management, students will have opportunities to apply their knowledge, skills, and understanding in real-world industries and organisations. They will engage in entrepreneurship projects and practice their French in authentic situations, preparing them for living, studying, or working abroad.
Students are encouraged to consider undertaking a language study placement abroad at the end of the second year, immersing themselves in French-speaking cultures such as Guadeloupe or studying at a partner business school in Lyon. They may also opt to earn a Cambridge CELTA qualification for teaching English to speakers of other languages.
The third year abroad offers an invaluable opportunity to enhance linguistic and intercultural skills while studying business at a partner university or completing a work placement in a French-speaking country. For students unable to travel, a three-year route is available without the year abroad.
In the final year, students will delve deeper into French in business, translation, and mediation, exploring diverse cultural contexts. On the business side, they will have opportunities to participate in research and live projects, further developing their professional skills.
Students who choose to undertake their major project in French can tailor their studies to better align with their career aspirations.
Joining the BA Business Management and French degree opens up a world of exciting possibilities and diverse career pathways.
