Master of Arts - Teaching English as a Second Language

UCO’s Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language stands out as a transformative journey that not only equips students with a solid theoretical foundation in TESL but also provides unique practical teaching experiences.

Our Practicum component allows students to observe experienced educators, gradually transitioning to teaching their own classes. This engaging, hands-on experience encourages confidence and competence, distinguishing our graduates in the competitive field of TESL. 

Through dedicated courses, students create résumés, job application letters and statements of teaching philosophy tailored specifically for the TESL field. Our emphasis on practical skills extends to the Portfolio course, where students develop presentations for academic conferences, enhancing their ability to contribute meaningfully to the discourse in the field.

With a typical completion time of 1.5-2 years, we offer an efficient yet comprehensive academic journey. The majority of our courses are thoughtfully scheduled in the evening to accommodate the unique schedules of working students, with additional flexibility through online offerings.
