Program Description
The degree in mathematics from the University of Central Missouri will open doors to many careers. Mathematicians have skills that are in high demand, and employers value their analytical and problem solving skills. As mathematics majors, students will study interesting mathematical content and have opportunities to apply that knowledge as they participate in research, projects, and mathematical competitions. After completing the program, students will be well-prepared for a career in business, industry, or government, or for a graduate program in mathematics or a related area.
Mathematics faculty members at UCM make teaching a priority. They make every effort to know their students and provide personal attention. These faculty members are also active researchers in their fields, regularly presenting their original work at conferences and publishing in professional journals. As majors, students will have the opportunity to work with these faculty members on joint projects that often result in published papers and presentations at regional and national conferences.
