About Master of Arts - Spanish
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese offers an Master of Arts with a major in Spanish. Students specialize in one of three concentrations: Hispanic literature and cultures and Hispanic linguistics.
The Master of Arts concentration in Hispanic Literature and Cultures provides students with a comprehensive overview of the fields of Hispanic Literature and Hispanic cultures and prepares the student to pursue work at the Ph.D. level in Spanish or in other disciplines.
The Master of Arts concentration in Hispanic Linguistics provides training in Spanish Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Sociolinguistics, Heritage Language Research and Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition, and Pragmatics. This concentration will prepare the students to pursue work a the Ph.D. level in Spanish or in other disciplines.
