Students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Spanish and Portuguese emphasis take language, literature, linguistics, and culture courses in both languages. The University of Arizona is home to one of the largest Portuguese language programs in the nation, and various clubs offer students the opportunity to practice conversing in either Spanish or Portuguese outside of the classroom.
