About Year One Foundation Program - Transfer to Bachelor of Arts - Psychology and Mental Health (Optional Co-op)

Why study this program?
At Augustana, a degree in Psychology will allow students to become well versed in psychological topics. Students will be able to understand and use different worldviews, concepts, language, and major theories of the discipline to account for psychological phenomena. Students are able to focus their studies in either the mental health and well-being stream, which places a higher emphasis on arts-based psychology courses or the brain and behaviour stream, which prioritizes science-based psychology classes. As a part of this program, students are also required to obtain a co-curricular certificate in either Mental Health First Aid or Community Engagement and Service Learning to put practical use to their classroom studies in psychology.

Why study at the University of Alberta?
Augustana is a small campus located in Camrose, Alberta, just one hour southeast of Edmonton. This liberal arts and science campus is home to just over 1,000 students from across Canada and around the world. Augustana offers degree programs in an intimate and personalized setting, with an average class size of 22 people.

Each semester is comprised of a three-week session studying a single course, followed by a more traditional 11-week session studying up to four courses. This gives students the opportunity to dive deeper into research, travel, and other experiential learning endeavors, while at the same time reducing stress and workload.
