This course is suited to highly motivated and talented individuals who wish to work at the forefront of their creative discipline, developing and honing in on their creative skills and understanding of jewellery in practice. It's a project-led and studio-based course with close tutorial guidance, and postgraduate students are encouraged to explore their art through different materials and thus have access to a range of studio spaces during their MA course.
Rigorous research will encourage students to explore a wide range of approaches, from traditional to contemporary influences of art, craft, design and technology. Student on this course will benefit from teaching by leading specialist designers, artists and crafts experts. They'll get to create a range of objects and experiment with different materials and processes, to develop their creative thinking and create bespoke pieces either to be exhibited or displayed on person; the opportunities and ideas are unrestricted, and UCA encourages their students to enhance their own creative journey through practice and theoretical learning.
Throughout the course, students will work closely alongside students from other fields such as textiles, ceramics, metalwork and glass. This will enable them to broaden their knowledge and incorporate elements from various disciplines into their own practice, ensuring their final project is tailored to their desired audience and is a reflection of their own personal journey on the MA course.
This Farnham campus offers extraordinary facilities with extensive workshops and equipment to support students. It's also home to the Crafts Study Centre - a purpose-built museum, research centre and gallery dedicated to crafts.
