The modern reality of politics is complicated. From labyrinthine legislature to campaigns of misinformation, the pillars of society are more obscured than ever. As a student of political science, the world becomes clearer as students deepen their understanding of important areas like political philosophy, global politics and international relations, peace and justice studies, and issues of human rights. Along this journey, students will develop skills in critical thinking, leadership, research, analysis, and communication and presentation.
St. Scholastica’s BA in Political Science program, which offers a major and a minor, broadens students experience and enriches their degree with a balanced curriculum. Research, write and debate the same pressing topics that are discussed every day in the press, courts and government buildings.
Through this program, students will have the chance to participate in the Washington Semester Program at American University. While interning at impactful governmental and nongovernmental organizations in Washington, DC., students can choose from programs in areas such as American politics, foreign policy and international development.
