Bachelor of Science - Nursing (Pre-Nursing)

Note: Admission to the Nursing Program is not direct:

Students seeking a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing select “pre-nursing” as their area of interest and begin taking the courses and/or general education categories required by the program. Their assigned advisor will assist in selecting the best sequencing of these courses. The academic advisor will also furnish deadlines for admission materials to be submitted to the Department of Nursing. Applicants will be required to have completed all 59 prerequisite hours or to be enrolled in any of the still remaining courses at the time of application. These 59 prerequisite hours and 3 hours of elective credit must be completed before beginning nursing coursework. 

A nursing degree prepares for a job in the medical field. Students will work with experienced professionals in small class settings. In addition, they’ll gain real world experience through clinical opportunities. 

As a nursing major at Southeast, students will gain incredible real-world learning experience in a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). 

• Experience clinical practice in every specialty area in nursing, working with faculty and clinical agency staff. 
• Learn from experienced faculty with a minimum of a master’s degree in nursing. 70% of the faculty possess doctoral degrees. 
• Experience hands-on learning in medical centers, primary care centers, schools, home health agencies, and long-term care facilities. 
• Complete eight weeks of targeted NCLEX preparation during the final semester.
