The International Foundation Programme at Solent University has been designed for students who have already completed their High School education overseas meet the demands of undergraduate study in the UK. As such, substantial support is given for language development as well as building students' confidence and independence to learn effectively within this academic culture.
The Creative Industries Pathway introduces students to the key principles and skills in media, art, and design. Students will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge in an area of which they have a particular interest within the Creative Industries. The aim is to develop students' creative capacity, confidence, and skills so that they are able to communicate their ideas effectively. The course involves a Creative Project which allows students to build upon their ideas, well-preparing them to progress on to creative industries or media-related programme at undergraduate level.
In the television production degree at Solent University, students will build their skills with live briefs in the ScreenSkills accredited course - They could have the opportunity to get work experience on primetime television for summer music festivals and high-profile events. With strong links to the industry, Solent's students have recently gained work experience at the BBC, the Royal Television Society, Camp Bestival, Boardmasters, the Society of American Cinema Editors, Southampton Football Club, the NHS and many more.
Along with dynamic lectures and seminars, students will take part in workshops and masterclasses led by award-winning professionals from the TV and film industries. Recent guest speakers have had credits on Top Gear, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Bohemian Rhapsody and many more. Students also have the opportunity to visit media organisations for a behind-the-scenes experience, allowing them to engage with professionals and gain insight into the industry.
Throughout the studies, students will have everything they need for multi-camera TV studios set-ups located in three TV studios and the media hatch for access to a range of high-end TV and film equipment.
