The Mechanical Technician – Tool Making diploma program is a four-semester program, where students will receive both classroom and lab/workshop instruction at the state-of-the-art tool making facility on campus. After the third semester, students may have the opportunity for on-the-job training, where they will develop in-depth tool making skills and can potentially secure up to 2,000 hours of experience towards their apprenticeship. Graduates will receive an Ontario College Mechanical Technician diploma. They may also get credit for levels 1 and 2 of their apprenticeship in-school training requirements as part of this program. This would give students a great advantage as they work towards their apprenticeship. During the classroom and lab/workshop components of the program, students will work with 21st-century tool making technology and equipment while becoming skilled in:
- Precision Machining
- Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programming
- Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM)
- Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD)
