Sacred Heart University's bachelor's degree in theatre arts includes 36 credits in their academic major, providing students with hands-on experience while growing their professional network long before graduation. With 18 credits making up their concentration in either acting or musical theatre, students will explore all elements of their craft, from performance to directing, to writing and design. Students will build meaningful skills in communication, analysis, public speaking, teamwork and problem-solving, which translate to postgraduate careers in:

- Film
- Education
- Media
- Art therapy
Students apply to the dual degree program as incoming freshmen and are admitted directly into the Sports Communication & Media graduate program at the same time as their admission as undergraduate students. Dual degree students are guaranteed a place in the Master of Arts in Sports Communication & Media (SCM) program provided they continue, as undergraduate students, to meet program-specific criteria to progress into enrollment in the graduate program. Dual degree students, therefore, have a space reserved for them in the graduate program beginning in their first year, with clear criteria and achievements required to progress into the graduate program.
Combined with advisement from their undergraduate academic advisor, participation in activities and programs offered by the School of Communication, Media & the Arts and the Sports Communication program provides strong support toward successful progression into graduate study.
Students in the Sports Communication & Media Dual Degree Program earn a Bachelor’s and a Master of Arts in Sports Communication & Media in five years. Students complete the bachelor’s degree in the traditional four-year time frame and complete one year of graduate study in the SCM program, earning both the bachelor’s degree and the master’s degree within five years. This option is open to students in the following undergraduate majors:
