About Bachelor of Science - Psychology
As a Psychology major, students will explore a variety of electives based on their interests, including psychological counseling, abnormal psychology, drugs and behavior, psychology of women, sports psychology, and more. They will develop an understanding of the theoretical perspectives and contributions of the schools of thought in psychology, and apply critical thinking as they analyze psychological theories and scientific research.
In the psychology program, graduates will also:
- Identify, synthesize, and critique information for scientific research.
- Conduct all stages of scientific research in projects conducted by faculty members, the results of which are often published in professional journals.
- Have the opportunity to present research results at local, regional, and national conferences.
- Understand and demonstrate ethical principles in psychology.
- Complete a semester-long internship in a setting that fits their career goals.
- Gain real-world experience through the community service component of several courses.
Psychology majors are prepared for a variety of careers, including:
