Master of Fashion in Design, students will have the opportunity to advance and expand their fashion design knowledge, and further research their design practice specialisation. They will define their position in the world of fashion, and pitch their work to industry through an innovative body of publicly-showcased work.
The course is dedicated to advancing students' design practice through classes that give them the strategies create specialised propositions, and to target specific areas of commercial markets, research directions and cross disciplinary practice. They will choose electives that enable them to customise their study, culminating in a collection, design project, research investigation, or industry placement.
As a graduate of this program students will be able to:
- Demonstrate extensive, advanced and specialised knowledge of fashion design its related disciplines and emerging global markets.
- Develop critical and ethical design strategies to practice and communicate their advanced knowledge of fashion in a global context.
- Determine and apply the specialist knowledge and technical skills required to creatively solve problems, demonstrating independent expert judgment and ethical responsibility relating to their professional practice in broader fashion systems.
- Critically analyse, synthesise and reflect on socio political dimensions and concerns in broader fashion systems to extend and challenge knowledge and practice in fashion design.
- Professionally communicate design and creative propositions, processes and outcomes to address specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Provide design leadership to effectively plan and manage the implementation of new directions and strategies within the local, national and global fashion industry as well as effectively collaborate with others.
- Implement research methods and design strategies to design and execute substantial projects, evaluate the outcomes and contribute to the fashion profession and the field of knowledge in the discipline.
- Master a body of knowledge and specific technical and research skills to progress their professional career within the contemporary field of fashion.
