The Bachelor of Science (Dean's Scholar, Applied Mathematics and Statistics) (Honors) is a research-oriented, four-year undergraduate program in science which includes an integrated Honors year. After graduating from this program, students will be qualified to apply their advanced knowledge and research capability in their chosen discipline to professional work or further learning. This program is a preferred pathway into higher degrees by research such as a PhD program.
This program will:
- Enable students to become highly employable in the field of mathematics, statistics and cognate fields
- Give a sound knowledge and skills of both fundamental and advanced mathematical and statistical theory
- Expose to a wide range of mathematical and statistical models, programming environments, approaches and software
- Enable students to select and apply appropriate mathematical and statistical methodologies, techniques and software to a wide range of problems
- Expose to related fields of study, such as environmental modelling, finance, marketing, computer science, data analytics, or information security
- Provide students with the opportunity to develop the skills and abilities to operate effectively in professional settings that involve mathematical and statistical expertise. These include communication skills, technology literacy, and the ability to work in a team and interact with others
