Master of Arts - Teaching - Secondary Education

The secondary educators have a passion for their subject area, and they teach to instill that passion in their students. The graduate program in secondary education gives students the subject matter knowledge and teaching experience they need to profoundly impact the lives and futures of students in grades 7–12.

Typically, secondary education teachers specialize in a particular subject area. If students have their bachelor’s degree in one of the five subject areas listed below, Quinnipiac University offers an intensive program that allows students to earn their master’s degree in teaching and the teaching certification in five semesters. They will enter in the fall as full-time graduate students and spend the first two semesters interning in a school while attending evening classes on campus.

To become a secondary educator, students will take three graduate content courses to promote a deeper understanding of their area of expertise, as well as multiple courses in teaching and learning, classroom management and adolescent development. Subject specialties include:
